November-Ethiopia

This month, I’ll be sharing a few Ethiopian-inspired recipes that I’ve learned to make at home. I was first exposed to Ethiopian food when I was working as a Refugee Case worker in 2023. My coworker invited me to lunch at a local Ethiopian Restaurant, Addis Ababa. A place I have driven by countless times and never knew it was there. I was recommended to try Misir Wat (spicy lentil stew) and Tikel Gomen (cabbage and carrots). At first, I felt a little unsure because I learned we’d be eating with our hands. But my coworker showed me to scoop up each bite with Injera, a spongy, fermented flatbread. It turned out to be a very fun and a memorable experience.

Since then, I have explored several other local Ethiopian restaurants and loved each one. The food is bursting with flavor and NEVER disappointing!

I hope you’ll join me in trying these recipes and maybe even visiting your local Ethiopian restaurant to experience this amazing cuisine for yourself!
